We ask that you read this form before agreeing to participate in the study.

The purpose of this study is to learn about close relationships, in and outside the family. If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to complete a 20-30 minute survey that involves answering a series of questions about yourself, about your romantic relationship experiences, and about your childhood. Please try to complete the survey in an environment that has no interruptions or distractions (e.g., phone calls, television).

No risks are anticipated as a result of participating in this study. Should you feel that any of the questions are too personal, you may skip those items or discontinue your participation in the study at any time.

Your responses as a participant in this study will remain confidential and anonymous. The records will be kept private, and any information that would make it possible to identify a participant will not be included in any published reports.

Benefits:
You may learn more about yourself by participating in this study, and you will be helping us to learn about experiences in close relationships in and outside the family and about adult attachment. In addition, this research could help families function better.

This study is being conducted by Kalanit Ben-Ari of Birkbeck, University of London, supervised by Professor Jay Belsky, Director of the Institute for the Study of Children, Families and Social Issues. This study has been reviewed and approved by the Birkbeck, University of London, Psychology Ethics Committee.
